We always get asked what are the best things to do in Marrakech… So, here is an idea of what a 72-hour trip to the red city could look like!
DAY 1: THE SOUL OF THE CITY
Theme: Heritage, history, and the art of daily life
Base: Explore on foot from Riad Tizwa
Morning – The Living Museum of the Marrakech Medina
After breakfast on Riad Tizwa’s rooftop (fresh orange juice, homemade yoghurt, muesli, Moroccan pancakes, honey), wander to Dar el Bacha Museum of Confluences, 2 minutes’ walk. It’s one of the city’s most beautiful palaces and hosts exhibitions of Moroccan and Islamic art. And if you are feeling lucky… pop your head in to Dar El Bacha Coffee shop.
Continue to the Ben Youssef Madrasa, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture recently restored a true highlight for lovers of geometry and design.
Palaces & Plates
Lunch: Dine at Le Jardin. One of Marrakech’s hidden gem restaurants. Try their octopus or meat platter (and always ask for their delicious hot sauce made with preserved lemons).
Walk back out to Dar el Bacha and take a taxi to Bahia Palace, then continue to the nearby Saadian Tombs. Both are quintessential royal sites and rich in craftsmanship.
Evening — Storytelling & Rooftops
Walk to Jemaa el-Fna as dusk falls; it’s electric. Wander among musicians, storytellers, and the smoke from food stalls.
Come home to Riad Tizwa refresh and prepare for a Moroccan Feast!
Dinner & Drinks: Head to Ksar Essaouassan, for a BIG Moroccan cuisine adventure. It’s a 15 minute walk from the riad and is located in Bab Luxor (sometimes spelt Laksour). You are about to step into a 15 century old riad and be shown traditional cooking and hospitality with a fixed menu and amazing hospitality. Ask the manager to pre-book you and give you directions!

DAY 2 — THE ART OF CONTEMPORARY MARRAKECH
Theme: Design, gardens, and the city’s modern creative pulse
Base: Taxi from Dar el Bacha to Gueliz (15 mins)
Morning — Colour & Calm
Visit Jardin Majorelle early to beat the crowds. Explore the Berber Museum inside for textiles, jewelry, and traditional design.
Walk next door to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum — a striking architectural gem devoted to the designer’s life and Marrakech inspirations.
Lunch & Art Walk
So… some cool options. Walk to lunch at Plus61, an Australian-Moroccan fusion restaurant in Gueliz with gallery-style interiors and great natural wines.
OR a jump into a cab to PSC (Petanque Social Club) one of Marrakech’s newest joys. Eat in the lovely courtyard and enjoy the calm under some beautiful urban trees.
Stay in the area and walk to the Comptoir des Mines Galerie and Loft Art Gallery Marrakech.
Now, if you really feeling the art – grab a taxi and get ready for a 25-minute drive to MACAAL (Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden). Its rotating exhibitions make it one of Africa’s top art destinations.
Evening — Dinner at the delicious Naranj Lebanese.
Return to Riad Tizwa to freshen up before choosing between 3 great dinner options. A lovely contemporary Lebanese meal at the new chic and delicious Naranj. It’s a healthy 25 min walk from home – but a lovely way to work up a hunger or walk off a great meal.
Or you can choose to stay local and go to Flowers across the street. Think: elegant contemporary roof top vibe using the best Marrakech ingredients. Or if you are craving a simple and delicious salad, there is a new place only 20m away from the riad called Au p’tit Bacha. It has a design your own salad option – which just hits the spot.
DAY 3 — ESCAPE & REFLECTION
Theme: Gardens, craftsmanship, and the art of slow living
Think secret gardens, Italian lunch’s in Morocco and a final traditional scrub.
Keeping it local, pop in to the magical oasis in the middle of the souks at The Secret Garden. Learn about traditional architecture and local natural water supplies and beautiful fountains.
Head off to an elegant patio of citrus trees and authentic Italian pastas, pizzas and other delicacies at Limonei. A beautiful simple restaurant/riad just 8 minutes away from Riad Tizwa.
Afternoon hammam & Hidden Corners
Return to Riad Tizwa and head off for a traditional hammam at Hammam de la Rose — relaxing, aromatic, and authentically Moroccan.
Evening – A farewell to Marrakech
Indulge in sunset rooftop cocktail at El Fenn (10 minutes from Riad Tizwa). The view over the Koutoubia at golden hour is unforgettable.
Final Dinner: End your trip at L’Mida in the hear of the medina. Moroccan-inspired homemade dishes, that are made with local produce that varies with each season.
